2016 Spinneys Duabi 92 Cycle Challenge round 2 - 15December2016

As many of you know my goal for 2015 was to complete a cycle race. I did with the help of a core group of friends. Well out of the original four only two made it for the 2016 running. So Brandon and myself headed to Dubai to best our previous times. We loaded up and flew down.

Keep in mind this was only 6 days after the IM70.3 Bahrain effort. So you could argue that we were not in top form, or were we?

It was another chilly morning just like 2015 but Brandon and myself came ready with arm warmers. for the record you do not need them after 30 min. It warms up quickly when you are on the road. As always the roads were open and plenty of volunteers to help with traffic and spectators!

Before we knew it we were off and racing! Brandon and I are on the left side of this photo. We showed up early that day and had plenty of time to get set up and collect all our gear. That was a smart decision since we both were still recovering from the triathlon.

Here is a great action shot from the event.
I knocked off a full 30 minutes from 2015! I was very happy with my effort, but where was Brandon hiding. He is a much faster cyclist and was somewhere at the finish line.

Found him! He also knocked up a huge chunk of time. 2017 is shaping up to be the fastest one for us yet! ....until the next adventure.

Boost Bahrain Sprint Relay Triathlon - 28April2017

The most recent adventure the took undertook was the Boost Bahrain Sprint Relay Triathlon. I know what your thinking, what the heck is Boost Bahrain. Well they have been around for a while but are really making waves on the sports event scene here in Bahrain. From what I can see it looks to be some of the same folks that help run IM70.3 Bahrain. This was my first Boost Bahrain event...BRAVO. I have never participated in a Triathlon relay before. So to explain it quickly you have a three member team and each member completes a Super Sprint Triathlon before handing the chip off to the next team member. 375m swim, 10km bike, and 2.5 km run, the most important thing to consider here is the placement of the weakest team member. In our team I am the slowest so I went second while Brandon and Anthony negotiated first and third. It was a very warm morning in Bahrain so the third member would be running at the peak of the heat. Our line up was Anthony, Cody, Brandon and seemed to be a good mix. The venue was a bit run down but Boost put it together well for this event. You could tell there was a lot of thought in the running and biking lanes. As with all venues the spectators and finished athletes clog those lanes up and you have to be on your toes to not knock anyone over. There was a star studded line up with some of the Bahrain Endurance 13 Team showing up. We finished 27 out of 36 for the male category and  went home happy!

This is the Missing Links!

A rare appearance from Abdhulmoshen from TriLife! He is part of the triathlon foundation here in Bahrain.

Anthony grabbed a quick selfie with MG, another foundation member to the sport and huge part of the Bahrain Endurance 13 Team.
FIT always representing! In fact it was several members first triathlon! Well Done!

Eric Watson is a Pro Triathlete here in Bahrain and a good mentor. He likes showing off his 4% body fat.

...until the next adventure!
